In Greek myth the three Fates — the Moirai — hold every mortal life on a single thread. Clotho spins it, Lachesis measures it, and Atropos cuts it. No god and no prayer can overrule their verdict; the thread ends where the sisters decide it ends.

Mary Lowe (“Stabin Mary”) spins the story. Lynn Davenport (“Gest”) measures out who gets attacked and how far. Jackie Besinger holds the shears. Together they play the part of “conservative moms” — while their real work is spinning propaganda for the unions and cutting down every Republican who dares to reform Texas public education.

Their public and private support for the teachers unions is the first clue. Their nonstop attacks on conservatives, Governor Abbott, Christianity, and Republicans like Don Huffines are the rest of the pattern.

What’s missing from their content tells the same story: no concern for predators in our schools, no objection to obscene books in classrooms, no criticism of Democrats, and not a single constructive reform proposal.

Like the Moirai, they exist to measure and to sever — keeping children bound to failing schools and the cycle of poverty unbroken.

But this is where the myth breaks. Unlike the Fates of legend, these three don’t actually hold the thread. The fate of Texas education — and of Texas children — was never theirs to spin, measure, or cut. The facade has crumbled. They are nothing more than controlled opposition for the anti-reform unions.
